Hello, my name is Laura Haines and I am a local artist and illustrator based in Rochester. I produce cards, postcards, prints and paintings of various local subjects, including the landscape and wildlife around Cobham and the North Kent marshes, local landmarks such as Rochester Castle and Cooling Castle, and boats in Gravesend such as the LV21 and Waverley. I work in oils on canvas mainly, but also sometimes watercolour and acrylics on pastel paper or watercolour paper, with pencil and pastel. I also use collage for some images such as my archaeological monuments and also the wide open estuary landscapes or industrial landscapes that particularly lend themselves to this medium. I studied Illustration at Kingston University and graduated in 2009, before completing an MA with distinction in Archaeological Illustration at Oxford Brookes University.
