DEBORAH SMITH

I am Deborah Smith and I was born in Sheffield, 1963. I studied art to A-level.
I have been working from a studio space in The Nucleus Arts Centre since February 2016. I am continuing my personal journey beyond family, re-discovering and re-visiting a passion for form and paint. My work is figurative: spontaneous; fast; in acrylic, oil, pastel and charcoal – regularly using mixed media.
Driven by the intricacies of the human form; the gesture of a mood; the play of light on shape; the play of shape in light; expanse; character; the vast bulk of a ship. And positively disastrous commercially, I am extremely possessive of my work!
